Lajjo

The bridal line, and what six to eight weeks buys

Lajjo is our bridal line and the most expensive work we do, running from PKR 185,000 to 275,000. Naurattan and Zeenat-e-Ishq are tissue silk lehengas with chiffon blouses and organza dupattas, carrying tilla, panni, zari jaal, stones, pearls and kundan. Husn-e-Jaan sets marrori, naqshi and kundan velvet patches into pure breeze net. Mahroza is a pure velvet lehenga against a breeze net dupatta. Five of the six run six to eight weeks. That is the handwork, not the queue.

Net, velvet and tissue, and why each one

Tissue silk takes an ornate multi-head border without the lehenga losing its fall, which is why Naurattan and Zeenat-e-Ishq are built on it. Pure breeze net does the opposite job: Ivory Bloom sets katdana, sequins, pearls and resham across it so the handwork reads through the weave. Velvet is the heaviest ground of the three, and Mahroza is the only piece in the line that uses it, worked in marrori, kundan, naqshi, resham and muqaish.

Which function, and when to order

Ivory Bloom and Zeenat-e-Ishq sit in ivory and gold, which suits a nikkah dress or a walima. Mahroza runs deeper, in mehroon with soft blush, and is built for barat and reception. Celestial Blush is a soft pastel ombre. Order early. Six to eight weeks is the real figure, and a bride ordering four weeks out is ordering too late. Every piece is stitched, ready to wear, and ships worldwide from Karachi.
